Dispatching: Generate Routes vs Dispatch Now
Dispatching turns a pile of orders into optimized routes for your drivers. Eltaman gives you two ways to do it, plus a draft editor for full manual control.
The two pipelines

Generate Routes builds optimized draft routes without assigning live drivers. Use it to plan the day ahead: select the orders, pick an objective, and Eltaman produces draft routes you can review, edit, and assign later.

Dispatch Now optimizes against your drivers' live GPS positions and produces a preview you can confirm immediately. On confirm, the routes go straight to planned and drivers are notified at once.
A dispatch preview is valid for 15 minutes. After that, regenerate it so the optimization reflects current driver positions.
Optimization objectives
When you optimize, choose what to optimize for:
- Fastest — minimize total drive time.
- Shortest — minimize total distance.
- Balanced — even the workload across drivers.
- Windows — respect delivery time windows first.
The optimizer uses real road data (OSRM + VROOM) on our own servers, so route geometry follows actual streets, not straight lines.
The draft editor

Every route is born as a draft. In the draft editor you can:
- Re-sequence stops by dragging them into the order you want.
- Add or remove orders from a route.
- Re-run the optimizer with a different objective.
- Assign a driver when the route is ready.
Route statuses flow: draft → planned → active → completed (or cancelled).
Route types
Eltaman recognizes three route shapes and builds each correctly:
- Direct — pick up and deliver in one trip.
- Collection — gather parcels from several pickups.
- Delivery — deliver parcels that are already at a hub. These routes get a leading hub-pickup stop automatically.
